Joe Kane begins his first season as an assistant coach with the Saints men's basketball program. His main responsibilities include post player development, game preparation, scouting and recruiting in-state and metro St. Louis.

Prior to his arrival at Maryville, Kane spent two years as an assistant coach at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. He was a part of the Lions program that saw unprecedented success, posting a 42-25 record from 2005-07, winning the school's first conference title and making a premiere appearance in the NAIA Final Four.

Kane's other coaching experience includes stints at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (three years) and St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley (four years).

In addition to his coaching experience, Kane is also a Vietnam Veteran and a 38-year veteran of law enforcement.

Kane is a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and returns home each summer to work the Jay Wrights Villanova Basketball Camp.

Kane and his wife, Cathie, reside in Florissant, Mo.
